Thygesen Textile Vietnam has recently obtained the OEKO TEX Standard 100 certification for its fabric manufacturing masks. Accordingly, the mouth-nose masks are produced by materials certified according to STANDARD 100 by OKEO-TEX@, which is certified safe for customer’s health.
What is OEKO-TEX Standard 100?
The OEKO-TEX Standard 100 is a testing and certification system for textile raw materials, intermediate and complete products at all production stages to guarantee the absence of harmful substances at levels that can be dangerous to the human body. The Oeko-Tex 100 standard was published and applied by Hohenstein German testing institute in 1992.
The requirement for certification of textile products according to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 is that all components of an item have to comply with the required criteria – that means in addition to the outer material also sewing threads, linings, prints etc. as well as non-textile accessories such as buttons, zip fasteners, rivets etc.
To get an OEKO-TEX 100 certificate, which standards must a company meet?
– Comply with the criteria of avoiding and limiting harmful substances in the production process
– Comply with waste standards in the waste water and emissions sectors
– Efficient energy consumption
– Less noise, dust and air pollution
– Effective and reasonable labor protection method
In addition, textile products can only be certified according to the OEKO-TEX 100 standard when all the components meet the necessary criteria – for example, for clothing, in addition to the main fabric, sewing threads, prints, buttons, zippers, buttons and all accessories used to make clothing must meet the required qualification, must be tested or have OEKO-TEX 100 certification.
OEKO-TEX divided into four product groups:
Class I – Products for babies and children (up to 36-month-old)
Class II – Product is in direct contact with skin on a large and long term basis
Class III – Textile product with little or no skin contact
Class IV – Interior decoration materials (for decorative purposes)
The scope and requirements of testing for hazardous substances according to the OEKO-TEX 100 standard depend on the intended use of the textile products.
Products meeting Oeko Tex 100 standards will be through more than 100 testing criteria including formaldehyde concentrations, pesticides, extractable heavy metals, organic chlorinated derivatives and preservatives such as tetra – and pentachlorophenol. …
